6. Nimono

Nimono is a shimmered Japanese dish flavored with sake, soy sauce, and sweetening. The nimono is shimmered over a period of time in a heavy covered pot until the liquid is absorbed into the base ingredients such as vegetables, poultry, and tofu. The popular Japanese nimono are nikujaga (beef and potato stew), tsukuzenni (chicken and a variety of roots stew), and saba no misoni (mackerel shimmered with miso, sake, and ginger).
